{ DIY Barnwood Shelf }

It's not secret that I love a free scrap.
Recently I gathered up some scraps to create this barnwood shelf. (I also have a thing for open shelving)

It's so simple to piece together something like this for your own home.
Here's how I did it...

I've had this piece of wood for a long time. I guess it's a tiny door (?)
I whitewashed it with some diluted white paint.

Added these. I call them "D" hooks. You can too.

Cheapo black metal brackets from the hardware store.

Do I really need to keep explaining this?

Here's the "sort of" before. There was a burlap cork board on the wall. But, I'm too hyper to take an accurate "before" photo.

After.

  2. Oh snap! I saw some cheapo plant hangers at the Dollar General in the mark-down baskets...so they were SUPER CHEAPO! They had hooks for hanging a plant...but could have easily been "Cheapo black metal brackets"...I'm heading back there tomorrow and will see if they're still in the marked down pile!
    I love this and that cute little door!

  9. Denise I just love your salvaged shelving! I am such a shelving freak...hey, seriously, who doesn't love more surface space to decorate? But I did have to do a double take on your wall color and molding in this space...it looks looks exactly like my living room!
    Have a wonderful weekend Denise!

    1. thanks Barbara. I think the wall color is ethiopia from Behr and the trim Swiss Coffee. Are they the same as your living room? how funny!
