{and why did I keep the toilet paper & toothbrush holder pink?}
Ta-da

here
The bathroom is my 2 year old son's, but is also used by overnight guests.
{And my girls refuse to use their own bathroom, so I guess it's theirs too.}
I think it's a nice mix of
masculine
&
feminine touches.

This mirror covers many sins.
Under it is a secret passageway to the Man Cave.
{not really, but it's large enough to be}
We took out the old medicine cabinet, with sconces attached,
and hung this larger mirror right over the hole.
The ruffled shower curtain is an Anthro knock off.
It photographs very well, but has this ewey polyester feel in real life.
But, I'll keep her anyhow.
The floor was a surprise bonus, that I didn't think was really going to happen.
It's an off the rack laminate from Home Depot.
Honestly, it really wasn't knockin' my socks off in the store.
I just bought it 'cause I was sick of this project draggin' out.
But, I gotta say, I am in LOVE with it.
Ahh, there's that floor again.
{Yes, it's slapped right over the old floor}
I attached some cotton rope to the tips of the
seeded glass shades for some added texture.
The mirror has been around for ages.
I don't think I've ever hung it.
I put a coat of chalkboard paint on it for this bath....
and ta-da , new life to the un-used mirror.
Oh, the messages you could write to your little darlings.
Why didn't I paint the old pink toothbrush holder?
{that'll go on my to-do list for the next year}
The ceiling is Ben Moore, Silver Marlin
I pulled the colors from this fabric...
which will eventually be mistreated into a valance
over those great white shutters.
The walls are Revere Pewter from Ben Moore.
A much nicer view from the hallway.

Your new bathroom is just beautiful, Denise! I love the flooring...you made a great choice! I think I have the same shower curtain and I know what you mean about the feel of it. I think it's pretty though. And I love what you did with the light fixture, I love details like that. The bomb is that mirror!! The chalkboard paint is a neat idea!! You did a great transformation!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteit looks great!
ReplyDeleteLove! So what kind of floor was in there before?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Amazing transformation!! I LOVE the floors too. Someday (day-dreaming over here), I'll have hardwood floors. I would never have thought to attach rope to the lights, it adds a Pottery Barn beachy touch. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteit looks awesome, denise! i love the mix of rustic look flooring, classic black, and ruffles on the curtain!
ReplyDeleteOK. I am sooooo jealous. Strangely enough, one of my favorite parts is how you decorated the top of the toilet!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing Denise!! Those floors are fantastic!!! I want them! I really like how you put the dark toilet seat on the toilet! I have never seen that done before and I like that!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job! Everything is great. I used the same pattern fabric in my bedroom.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love the black and white together. The ruffled curtain and that floor!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious... maybe need to go and read. But did you paint the existing tile?
I think it looks drastically different. So crisp!
Pat

ReplyDeleteYou really have a magic touch ~ I just love everything that you do!
ReplyDeleteOh my word you did an amazing job. And yes, those floors really are great :0) Im digging that you used your pop of color on the ceiling instead of the walls :0)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteWell Done! It looks so professional.
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! I have this floor in my bathroom and I so LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteLooks great!

What a great re-do! I love the touches of rope on the light and the chalk board mirror, I may have to steal that idea:)
ReplyDeleteYou did it all my style! Slapping things here, hiding holes there! I love it! It's an amazing transformation! The floor looks so pretty too. Great job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job!!! Did you just paint over your tile? If so, what kind of paint did you use?
ReplyDeleteLove the floor and shower curtain, what brand are they? Thanks
ReplyDeleteLove the transformation. My bathroom is also silver marlin.
ReplyDeletebeautiful! I love the floor! Can you share the name of that color laminate from Home Depot?
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful...a great motivator for this procrastinator!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job! Found you at better after. Did you replace the tiles? Or paint them?
ReplyDeleteLove the bathroom, Denise! Did you paint the tile or is it new tile?
ReplyDeleteHi! I have the same exact tile in my bathroom!! It is original with the house I grew up in & now own...built in 1958..gives me hope that it can look different...some day! Thanks, Linda
ReplyDeleteI'm digging your idea of the chalkboard paint on the mirror's frame. Looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteyes wondering about the tiles, have the same problem, did you replace or paint and what kind of paint and what steps did u use to make it look so great?
ReplyDeleteOMG! I love it! I have the same exact tiles, toothbrush holder, soap dish and in fact I even have a matching pink tub, sink and floor tile to go with it! Ugh!!! Who thought this was a good idea back then?
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you did this, I have wondered about painting the tiles forever but wasn't sure if it would work or what it would look like?
We have already bought the replacement sink/counter but now the question is what to do about the pink tub??? any ideas?
I love your blog and get so much inspiration!
Now the only question is how to paint the tub?
Oh! That flooring looks just stunning!! Such a beautiful transformation!
ReplyDeleteAloha,
Charlie
Just hopping over from Better After. I LOVE your photos and your redo! Wonderful job. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI just saw your bathroom reveal on Better After. It looks amazing, nice job!
ReplyDeleteI'm also VERY curious about the tiles and how you painted them?!?!
ReplyDeleteGreat job. I don't think I'd ever paint over the soap and cup holders. They give a nice nod to your homes past.
ReplyDeletegreat flooring!
ReplyDeleteGreat job. It looks so fresh.
ReplyDeleteYour bathroom makeover is great! I love the color combination you chose -- and the flooring is a perfect choice for a bathroom.
ReplyDelete~Amanda
This room looks so clean & fresh. Wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteWarmly, Michelle
Wow. What a wonderful makeover! The tile painted answers my question with what to do in my kitchen. Totally gonna try this!
ReplyDeleteCan I make one gentle criticism? Find clear bulbs for your lights? The light blue ones you have is rather distracting from all the work you've put into the rope, which I think is a brilliant idea. Love it!
I love it! Great job on updating the cabinet and seat.
ReplyDeleteSo nice - you did a great job! I linked this to my bathrooms post too, for inspiration!
ReplyDeleteVery very nice! Did you by chance paint your toilet seat? I have the same oak one in my house and cant find a new seat to fit my old old toilet.
ReplyDeleteI just bought several yards of your valance fabric to make a shower curtain!

ReplyDeletedid you paint the vanity? what color?
I also noticed your door was black, did you do that too? I am about to do those 2 things when I saw yours! Great job!
WOW...it looks fantastic!! I always wondered what the Pewter would look like on a wall surface and I am really a fan!! What a great idea to put the yarn around the lamp shades...you really are smart!! Thanks for the inspiration to tackle my next room:o)
ReplyDeletegreat job...
ReplyDeletename of floor ?
linda [email protected]
Would love to know the name of the laminate also. Looks amazing and thanks for the idea of just slapping it on top of the old one.. I think I can do that! The old tile floor is what keeps me from redoing the bathroom but if I can just put laminate on top..I will go for it! Thanks again!
ReplyDeletemy email is [email protected] if you can remember the name of laminate!
We have the same exact old mirror and side lights! I can't believe it. I always thought that the frame around the mirror was a crazy add on at some point. We are in the planning stages of redoing our bathroom that is pretty much the same as yours. I love, love, love the chalkboard mirror. Thanks for showing us this.
ReplyDeleteHI! Love your bathroom makeover. Did you paint tile or replace it?
ReplyDeleteWhat type of flooring was on the floor originally?
Thanks
