A few weeks ago, John, from
Stable Tables,
made me this mantel

I finally got around to taking some photos of it.

I love the rustic chunky-ness of it.

I think I need some white or silver
candle sticks for Spring/Summer

But I love the layered effect of the wreath on the door.

The brass part of the fireplace I could do without.

Have a great sunny day!

I spray painted the brass part of my fire place...It's a easy and cheap fix. Love your blog! Aja

Denise your mantel is beautiful! You know, you could take out that whole brass piece and put a tri-fold screen in front of the fire if you'd like. Or... You could paint the brass thing black and it will blend in... they make black paint that is for grills so it will be ok with the heat!
I love your design...Did you make the wreath? I love it!

Gorgeous! That's really one of the only things I don't like about my house...no fireplace and hence no mantle.

It's gorgeous! And the wreath in the middle really is the icing on the cake.

I had the same fireplace doors and painted them with high temperature black paint. COMPLETE change .... I love them.

Looks fabulous! If the brass really bothers you, there is a black matte spray paint for high heat items. It smells strong, so it would need to be done on a day one could open the windows.
